Biolocity

GLS note: Money, education and hands-on commercialization management in one place — for Emory and Georgia Tech innovators.

A philanthropic, multi-institutional accelerator supporting and accelerating the commercialization of early-stage medical technologies, operated jointly by Georgia Tech and Emory University. Three integrated components: Biolocity U (educational resources on life science commercialization), Biolocity Fund (more than $1.5M available annually to Emory and Georgia Tech innovations through a multi-stage competitive application process), and Biolocity Launch — active project management and formal coordination with the life-sciences commercialization ecosystem for Biolocity Fund awardees.

Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC)

Atlanta

Georgia's statewide technology innovation hub and startup incubator, operated by Georgia Tech's Office of Commercialization since 1980. Provides one-on-one coaching, customer discovery, investor connections, talent and corporate-partnership support, and office/lab access. Takes zero equity. Runs staged programs (Educate, Accelerate, Signature) plus industry tracks including HealthTech.

GLS note: Founder mentoring and board guidance

Member-led angel investor group sharing resources and a proactive investment philosophy in support of start-up and early-stage high-growth businesses in the Southeast and across the US. Primary focus is life sciences and biotech — seed to early-stage in healthcare, medical devices and biotechnology — though open to technology deals in all sectors. Members are serial entrepreneurs, CEOs, venture capitalists and business leaders who find, fund, mentor and support companies from pitch through scale-up and exit. 40 investments to date.

Corporate venture accelerator and innovation platform in Tech Square, connecting startups with senior executives across a consortium of 16 major corporations (including Chick-fil-A, Coca-Cola, Cox Enterprises, Delta, Georgia-Pacific, Georgia Power, Georgia Tech, Goldman Sachs, Home Depot, ICE, Inspire Brands, Invesco, Invest Georgia, RaceTrac, Tech Square Ventures, Unum and Wellstar). Runs a 10-week Enterprise Accelerator twice yearly and provides mentorship and pathways to corporate partnership and customer acquisition. 122 portfolio companies, 200+ corporate contracts, $3.1B+ follow-on capital.

G2G Consulting (Government Bioscience Grants)

GLS note: How GLS members find and win federal non-dilutive funding

Government-affairs and non-dilutive funding consultancy that publishes the Government Bioscience Grants (GBG) Reporting Service — "The Essential Guide to Non-Dilutive Government Funding" — a monthly curated scan of federal and foundation bioscience funding opportunities, produced under co-branded cover for Georgia Life Sciences and a dozen peer state bioscience associations. Runs a free monthly webinar plus premium private consultations for member organizations, and advises companies on federal grant strategy and positioning with agencies.

Southeast Life Sciences

Regional life sciences trade organization formed in 2019 by the merger of the Southeastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA) and Southeast BIO (SEBIO). Cultivates, convenes and connects the Southeast entrepreneurial ecosystem across seven states (AL, FL, GA, NC, SC, TN, VA). Runs the AdvanSE Conference — the largest regional gathering of life sciences companies — plus investor matchmaking and the Women@SLS and SE Color initiatives.

TiE Atlanta

Nonprofit entrepreneur network and one of the top five TiE chapters worldwide, fostering entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education and investment since 1998. Programs include TYE and TYE-U for high-school and college entrepreneurs, TiE Angels, the TiE Foundation, Mentor Match, the Council of Board Advisors (COBA), Enterprise to Entrepreneurs (E2E), and TiECON Atlanta. TiE Angels has invested $9.4M across 44 companies since 2017, seed through Series A.

UGA Innovation Gateway

Athens

The University of Georgia's intellectual property licensing and startup support arm. Manages patents and technology licensing, supports company formation from UGA research, and runs entrepreneurship programming including Innovation Bootcamp, UGA I-Corps, M.A.P.S., Startup 101 and the Georgia Startup License, plus the FAST Grant program. Over 1,300 products commercialized and 250+ companies launched.
